About The Bookstore
Most of the products on this site are used but are in Good to Excellent condition. We try to keep our prices as low as possible so that we can offer excellent value for your money. All sales are final and all proceeds from book sales go toward supporting the Mill Valley Library.
We have divided our offerings into categories to help you make your selection. Browse our store by category or use the Search function to look for specific products. Checkout can be completed with PayPal or your preferred credit card. Online orders must meet a minimum of $3 total. You will be notified when your purchase is ready and can be picked up during library hours. If you need your items shipped, please contact us and we will try to make an accommodation.

Looking for Volunteers: Bookstore Managers
We’re searching for 2 - 3 new managers to oversee the Friends Bookstore. In partnership with 1 other manager, these roles will be critical to maintaining the high quality and community value of the Friends Bookstore. The responsibilities listed below are intended to be shared between the 2-3 new managers, with an anticipated time commitment of ~8 hours per week, per person.
Responsibilities:
- Managing inventory for multiple sections in the bookstore, including reviewing donations and pricing
- Managing in-person public sales, including scheduling of managers and volunteers, cash and accounting responsibilities, preparing the bookstore for the sale, ensuring hardware needed is in working condition, and coordinating external advertising of the sales
- Volunteer management, including interviewing, training new volunteers, maintaining the volunteer roster, overseeing workload, and providing day-to-day guidance to volunteers.
- Internal bookstore operations, including scheduling and managing bookstore manager meetings, monitoring the bookstore email, processing mail, maintaining snack supply, responding to bookstore-related email and phone requests, and liaising with library staff and the Friends board
- Managing inventory for the Friends book sale cart in the library
- Coordinating with library staff to request signage, printed materials, and updates on the library's website
- Scheduling and supporting in-person and online dealer sales
- Hardware and technology troubleshooting, including iPads, Square readers, PCs, printers, and adding machines
